Annual Student Art Contest

“Being Water Wise is…”, formerly known as “Water is Life”, is an annual art contest that encourages students to express the value of water through their artistic talents. Through their art, students remind us of the importance of water in our daily lives and inspire us to think about the sustainability of our future water supply.

Contest Rules

Contest announcements and rules are distributed each year to eligible schools. All entries must be submitted through a school within our service area. The contest includes four grade-level categories: K-2nd, 3rd-5th, 6th-8th, and 9th-12th grades.

Please see Art Contest Submission button below to view guidelines and rules.

Contest Voting

Member agencies and other local representatives are invited to vote on their favorite art pieces within each grade-level category. Public voting presentations are also hosted at the annual WaterFest event. Winners are recognized at the Board of Directors meeting with a certificate and cash prize.

Winning artwork advances to compete in the 2027 Metropolitan Water District of Southern California’s regional Art Calendar Contest.
